Guidelines for the Placement of Children on Indoor Recreational Teams
The Orland Park Soccer Club does not hold player drafts. Each season new rosters are developed. The Club uses both the players' current grade and coach's player ratings frm the prior Fall season to try to balance the strengths of each recreational team. It also attempts to comply with all reasonable requests by parents on the assignment of players to teams.
The Guidelines for Requests on the Assignment of Players and Coaches to Recreational Teams are as follows:
- Recreational Teams are assembled by grade in school during the season.
- Requests for a child to play up an age group must be approved by the Board.
- Requests for a child to play with a younger age group are granted only for exceptional circumstances, and must be approved by the Board.
- Parents may not request that their child be placed with a specific coach or assistant coach.
- Parents may request that their child not be placed on the same team with a specific coach. Such request will be honored and kept confidential.
- Parents may request that their child be put on the same team with another child for car pooling purposes. The Club will attempt to honor such requests. If the Club feels that such a request is an attempt to circumvent rule #4, the request may be denied.
- Coaches cannot request that a player be put on their team. Coaches may request, because of problems with parents or players, that specific players not be placed with them. Such requests should be made in writing BEFORE rosters are issued.
- Coaches may request only one specific assistant coach. The Club will attempt to honor all such requests. Assistant coaches may request to work with a specific head coach, but the Club reserves the right to assign them to another team in order to balance coaching skills and team strengths.
- Children who are members of competitive teams, either OPSC or any other soccer club, are not eligible to play in the recreational program.
- Rosters once issued are final and changes will be made only for administrative errors or to correct anti-competitive situations.
